Wow! I was absolutely flabergasted with the artistry of the quilts I saw at the show. These quilters are true artists and I cannot say anything to add to the beauty I saw in Long Beach.
The quilts on show ranged from traditional to modern, machine to hand quilted, abstract to picturesque – there was truly no limite to what these artists made. One of the things I found most interesting is that many quilters are using tulle to alter the images of the quilt. For example, black tulle brings the colors out and makes them pop whereas white tulle, softens all effects. I saw a quilt that used white tulle to mimick a spotlight in a theater. It was the most amazing effect!
The show itself was certainly inspiring. So much so that I went home and worked more on my own quilt. But, I digress.
With no further adieu, I will just let the pictures do the talking. Sorry I didn’t have more but my camera just didn’t like me that day.
